A corporate group of which METAWATER Co., Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Kenji Yamaguchi; Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) serves as the representative company has entered into a consignment contract with Fukuchiyama City for the "Comprehensive Private Consignment of Fukuchiyama City Waterworks Business (Stage 2)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Project") on October 6, 2023.
This project was awarded through a publicly solicited proposal method with the aim of ensuring the stable continuation of Fukuchiyama's water supply business through the ingenuity and technical capabilities of private companies. The establishment of a special purpose company (SPC) and the expansion of the scope of performance standardization*2 are expected to further improve user services and stimulate the city economy.
In March 2019, METAWATER was contracted by Fukuchiyama City as the representative company of a joint venture (JV) for "Comprehensive Private Consignment of Fukuchiyama City Waterworks Business (Stage 1)". And since April 2019, the JV has been performing various tasks including operation and maintenance (O&M), sales, administration, as well as management and planning. This project was commissioned as a corporate group that adds a new company to the JV members of the first consignment work. METAWATER will serve as the representative company of the established SPC, which, in addition to the first consignment work, will be responsible for preventive maintenance of facilities and improvement of yield ratio*1.
In the project, METAWATER, as the representative company of the SPC, will strive to continue a safe, secure, and stable water and wastewater business and to maintain and improve user services by making the most of its large track record in Public-Private Partnership businesses to date.
*1 Yield rate
The ratio of the volume of water delivered from a water treatment plant to the volume of water recorded as fee revenue. It is an indicator of the productivity of water treatment.
*2 Performance standardization
The contractee provides the performance requirements and required standards, and the private sector matches a certain direction and scope under its discretion.
