Construction of Biogas Power Generation Facility Completed in Aichi Prefecture pursuant to "Development and Operation of Sludge Treatment Facilities for Toyokawa Water Purification Center "
Pursuant to the contract made with Aichi Prefecture regarding the "Development and Operation of Sludge Treatment Facilities for Toyokawa Water Purification Center,"* Aichi Clean Energy Co., Ltd. (President: Hirosumi Watanabe; Head Office: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; hereinafter "Aichi Clean Energy"), a special purpose company formed by METAWATER Co., Ltd. (President: Yasushi Nakamura; Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), METAWATER Service Co., Ltd. (President: Eiji Nakamura; Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and Cenergy Co., Ltd. (President: Tokihiko Yamada; Head Office: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture), has completed the construction of this facility. Capital contributions to Aichi Clean Energy have been made by these three companies, and Nakanihon Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. (President: Naokazu Ueda; Head Office: Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) is participating in this project as a cooperative company. In commemoration of the completion, a ceremony co-sponsored by Aichi Prefecture, Toyokawa Regional Sewerage Promotion Council, and Aichi Clean Energy was held. Approximately 50 people attended the ceremony, including Aichi Prefecture Governor Hideaki Omura, national and local government officials, and Aichi Clean Energy personnel. A facility tour was also conducted at that time.
Under this project, the currently inactive digestion system at the Toyokawa Water Purification Center will be restarted, enabling better water treatment and stable sewage sludge treatment. This project also aims for power generation using biogas produced through the sludge treatment process, as well as sludge treatment cost reduction and greenhouse gas reduction using FIT (Feed in Tariffs).
