Contribution to Effective Use of Wastewater Resources Matsumoto City held a completion ceremony for the digester gas power generation facilities for the Ryojima Water Purification Center

METAWATER Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President : Tomoyasu Kida, hereinafter "METAWATER") received an order for the construction of digester gas power generation facilities for the Ryojima Water Purification Center (Matsumoto, Nagano; Mayor: Akira Sugaya) in 2013 and has engaged in construction. We are pleased to announce that the construction of the fuel cell digester gas power generation facilities are now completed and that operation will start from February 2015. In commemoration of this event, a ceremony hosted by Matsumoto City was held today to celebrate the start of power generation at the digester gas power generation facilities for the Ryojima Water Purification Center.
About Digester Gas Power Generation Facilities
Approximately 1.10 million m3 of biogas (e.g. methane) is generated per year at the Ryojima Water Purification Center. In order to facilitate the effective use of this biogas, the project aims to introduce fuel cell power generation facilities and reduce maintenance costs by selling electricity. Fuel cell power generation facilities are devices to generate power by producing hydrogen from biogas generated from sewage sludge and reacting it with oxygen in the air. The main characteristics of the facilities include high power generation efficiency, easy maintenance, and extremely low noise, vibration, and gas emissions due to the use of chemical reactions to generate power.
Received Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) Certification as Sewage Sludge Power Generation Facilities
The facilities have received certification as renewable energy power generation facilities under the Act on Special Measures concerning the Procurement of Renewable Electric Energy by Operators of Electric Utilities.
